Mongrel Design Interiors is a boutique design firm that offers highly personalized interior design services for all areas of your home. We specialize in remodeling and renovations but enjoy all aspects of the interior design world. From furniture plotting and procurement, to lighting plans, accessorizing, wallpaper and custom draperies, there isn’t a part of our business that we don’t love.
We strive to create extraordinary, yet comfortable environments, specifically suited to our clients needs.
We are not a high-volume firm by choice. This way clients receive personalized, one-on-one design, advice and communication from Michelle Samar, the owner and designer. We have proudly served the North Scottsdale, Cave Creek, Carefree, North Phoenix and Anthem areas since 2001.

Recent Projects
Desert Mountain Primary Bathroom renovation: Our client loved the view and basic footprint of this bathroom, but the slate tiles and closed off steam shower needed to be replaced, and the overall look, lightened and brightened.
We opened up the dark steam shower and created a spacious, curbless entry shower with 2 showerheads, removed the built-in tub, and replaced it with a cleaned-lined, free-standing tub.
We used a combination of porcelain and natural stone tiles for floors and shower enclosure.
The old vanity cabinet with makeup area wasn`t needed anymore, so we created more usable storage with a new layout and lots of drawers.
A dark walnut stain on alder cabinets gave us high contrast against gorgeous Taj Mahal quartzite counters and light floor tiles.
A chandelier dripping with natural stone adds a soft glow to the space, and adds interest and texture along with accessories of mixed metal, glass and fabric. The blending of sophisticated high gloss finishes with natural wood and stone creates an organic feeling oasis in the North Scottsdale desert.

Part 2:
We fully furnished the primary suite as well as accessorized, provided window treatments, area rugs, lighting and wallpaper. The den originally only had lower cabinets, and we added a bookcase and upper cabinets for both display and storage.

We had the pleasure of helping personalize a custom home that been previously outfitted with cool grays and blues. The new homeowner preferred a warm, sophisticated yet cozy look. We added stone to the foyer rotonda, new wallpaper, a stone backsplash, all new window treatments a few custom cabinets, and furnished and accessorized the entire home. We feel the homes new interior now seamlessly blends with its spectacular view, rather than contrasting.
